THE
JERRY EVERETT MEMORIAL TROPHY
AND
2010 PANTHER THROWS FEST
GENEROUSLY SUPPORTED BY
During the morning, another small group of athletes went through a training programme of jumps, throws, running and agility events, led by some excellent coaches.
In the lunch break athletes were joined by parents, coaches, officials and friends of the late Jerry Everett to walk around the track in memory of a man who through kindness, enthusiasm and dedication left an impression on all with whom he had contact. As Jerry had been a prodigious walker, the walk around the track was a fitting tribute.
The afternoon saw all the athletes competing in the latest form of athletics competition known as "Quad Kids". The group made up of Panthers and younger local athletes in years 5 and 6, ran 60 metres, competed in Standing Long Jump, Vortex Ball throw, and ran 400 metres. Whilst the scores were completed, the athletes took part in some "fun" relays. This may have been the first time this type of event had been held in our area, using an adapted scoring system. The competition is intended to be a fast and furious team competition and indeed it was.
The results are as follows:
