EASTER FESTIVAL SUCCESS FOR PANTHERS

24th March 2007 and the annual Easter Sportshall Festival organised by Suffolk Sport was held in the dome at Next Generation, Ipswich.

In Match One there were 5 teams competing and the winners were announced as follows:

1st - Gold Medal - Orwell Panthers 'A'

2nd - Silver Medal - Orwell Panthers 'B'

3rd - Bronze Medal - The Warren School

4th Place - Beacon Hill School

5th Place - Hillside School

Competition included most of the Sportshall Events with the addition of javelin throw.

Everyone competed vigorously and in an excellent spirit. This spirit was never more in evidence than in the non-scoring relay with some surprising performances by some surprising contestants.

On the track the "A" team took three first places and a second in the 50m sprint as did the "B" team in the 50m Hurdles leaving the "A" team ahead on track events by a mere five points.

In the field events the "A" team won both the long jump and javelin with the "B" team second and third respectively. In the chest push the tables were turned with the "B" team winning from the "A" team in second place. Thus again the "A" team won the field events but by only two points from the "B" team.

In the overall competition the "A" team came out winners with 93 points with the "B" team second with 86 points.

In Match two the winners were Northgate, 2nd - Ipswich Harriers, 3rd St Edmundsbury Pacers and 4th Suffolk all stars.

All in all another great day for all athletes but especially for ORWELL PANTHERS. Well done everyone!
